MSK problem - Hamstring injury

hamstring injury often happens during sudden, powerful movements, such as sprinting, lunging or jumping that overstretch your tendons or muscles.

Recurring injury is common in athletes and sportsmen, as you're more likely to injure your hamstring if you've injured it before.

Regularly doing stretching and strengthening exercises, and warming up before exercise, may help reduce the risk of injuring your hamstring.

Cause

  1. Not warming up properly before exercising.

  2. Being out of shape or overdoing it.

  3. An imbalance in the size of your leg muscles.

  4. Poor technique.

  5. Returning to activities too quickly after an injury.

Symptoms

  1. sharp pain in the back of the thigh. There might also be a "popping" or tearing sensation.

  2. Swelling and tenderness usually develop within a few hours.

  3. muscle weakness
